The 2nd pic is Sweet Pixie was supervising me drawing. She’s feeling so much better now. The 3rd pic is the color scheme I’ve decided on. The cat is a Dragon Li, it looks like a brown tabby, and is considered to be the unofficial national cat of China. The dragon will be mostly shades of green and plain wood color and have woodgrain texture. The 4th pic is cute Kazu helping me color my sketch. I’m going to paint this piece. This is my second Chinese New Year’s piece. The last one was in 2020, “Cherry Blossoms” with The Year of the White Rat. 2024 is The Year of the Green Wooden Dragon. I hope that you like my sketch and I’ll post some Work in Progress pics once I start painting.

⚡️Greek Gods & Goddesses Cats Commission Rough Sketches! For a really long time now I've been painting five Greek Gods/Goddesses Cats on Mount Olympus! Five precious cats as their namesakes... Zeus, Hades, Persephone, Ares & Hestia. This is my biggest & most elaborate painting I've ever created so far! It is 18" x24" acrylic on canvas sheet. I have been sharing all of my works in progress pics with my Patreon Patrons & some in a few TikTok videos so far but I’m ready to share this with everyone since it’s getting really close to being finished. Also I can sell prints & gift items of this painting too! :) Thank you again to my client for being soooo Awesome! xoox! Two Of Pentacles - 78 Tarot - Rough Sketch

 

Two Of Pentacles - 78 Tarot - Rough Sketch :) This deck is Elemental and my card is an Earth card, So stones, rocks, moss, vines, trees, etc ;) I decided to go with a stone lion because I've always wanted to paint a lion. I made his tail extra long in a sort of a half figure 8 to represent the infinity symbol from the traditional card. To me the extra long tail makes him more magical & not just a typical looking lion. The two pentacles are sliced tree stump medallions with a carved sun on one & moon on the other.  The pentacles will have a glow around them filling in the rest of the infinity symbol. They will be floating, one inside each side of the figure 8 pattern & will be a be a nice contrast to the stone lion and the glowing around his tail. His tail won't all be stone but a regular lion's tail like he's turning back from being stone. He's standing on balanced rocks that will have moss & greenery on them. I plan on making them taller at the bottom since the  card is so long & that's where the 78 Tarot Card Title banner will be covering too. The background will probably be something with lots of greenery and vines etc again good contrast against the grey stone lion & rocks. Some wavy vines & 2 shadowed birds will represent the ships and ocean waves of the traditional card. I think that just about covers everything. I haven't thought of a title yet but there's lots of time for that.

I've already got the thumbs up from the 78 Tarot ladies Yay! I hope you like what I've come up with for my card too. I've set this aside for a while so I can work on a few smaller paintings in time for DragonCon.

Bakeneko/Nekomata Rough Sketch for 78 Tarot Mythical

For my 78 Tarot Mythical Card I'm painting the Mythological Japanese Demon Cat called Bakeneko/Nekomata. I haven't decided what to call him yet exactly. From my research it seems Nekomata "Forked Tail" and Bakeneko "Changed Cat" are very similar. I've read a lot of info about them both & the sites each explain them both a little differently. One site even calls Nekomata a breed of Bakeneko? It's all rather confusing to me. I'm leaning towards Nekomata since he does have the forked tail & is in the mountains but I'm not sure.

My card is the Ace of Wands. It's a positive card full of personal power, confidence, enthusiasm, new beginnings, hope for the future, ready to take on the world! I used a lot of the symbolism and card elements from the traditional Ace of Wands Cards- I’ve got the fire, the Japanese castle in the distance, the forest will be in the background. The bamboo wand with the new growth sprouts on it. The clouds from the original card are in his kimono and the blue of his kimono will represent the river.

I absolutely LOVE my sketch & I can't wait to start painting :D I hope you like it too. I have less that a month to get this whole painting done so I have got to get moving on this asap!

78 Tarot Astral Deck Rough Sketch "Page of Wands"

I'm thrilled to be a part of the 78 Tarot Astral Deck! Here's my Rough Sketch for the "Page of Wands" :) I've painted Alien kitties in the past so I wanted to do something different. I haven't does a part robot cat yet! So how about a Cyborg Explorer Kitten with his Space Salamander sidekick? Symbolism for the card - I kept the layout similar to the classic card & explorer, free spirit aspects. The background will have the 3 mountains & the sky will be full of stars & galaxies. I may add in a constellation that's linked with my card (not sure yet). The kitty is standing similar to the traditional card holding the wand however I want him looking forward. He will have the red feather symbolized as part of his red cyborg eye. In the traditional card the salamander is shown a symbols on the page's clothes & they are chasing their tails. My little space salamander is riding on the cat's tail instead. The wand has the Moon Glyph for Fire at the top of it, under that the healing crystal Carnelian which is orange/red & under that the elemental symbol for Fire. I think that about covers everything for my card. Time to paint!!

WIP New Day of the Dead Cat

I'm working on a New Day Of The Dead Cat! This is just the rough sketch. He has some elements in common with my other Day Of The Dead Cats so they will match together nicely. Since Day of the Dead dates back thousands of years in Mexico to the Ancient Aztec Cities he is wearing an Aztec necklace. This painting will be up for auction in The Rabbit Hole Artist Collective's July Auction "Ancient Cities / "Ancient Trees" starting on the 7/24. I'm going to start painting him today :) I hope you all like him. I've got a few more Day of the Dead Cats to paint in the next months for a special project too.

WIP 78 Tarot Carnival Queen Of Cups

 

New Year New Art! :D Here's the rough sketch of my "Queen of Cups" for the 78 Tarot Carnival deck. She's a queen fortune teller inside her wagon at the carnival. You can see the carnival tents and a Ferris wheel out the window behind her. She is holding a water filled scrying goblet and is surrounded by tarot cards, candles, crystals etc on her table in front of her. She is going to be called “Madame Zoe, Teller of Fortunes” and is modeled after my sweet 17 year old cat Zoe. The keywords for the Queen of Cups are, Compassionate, empathetic, intuitive, dependable & discreet. I think these are all traits that you would want your fortune teller to have. Other elements of my card are Water, the color blue, suit of Hearts & Sunset, these will all be included. In the traditional card the cup is ornate and gold, mine will be the same. The queen of cups is supposed to be sitting on a elaborate throne with a shell shaped back and and cherubs one the sides, mine will be like this in dark wood and of course I made kitty cherubs ;) Her "crown" is her headdress that is covered in gold and jewels & will match her necklace, rings & the gems in the cup. I think that about covers everything. I hope you all like her. I'm starting to paint today! :)
