The 2nd pic is Sweet Pixie was supervising me drawing. She’s feeling so much better now. The 3rd pic is the color scheme I’ve decided on. The cat is a Dragon Li, it looks like a brown tabby, and is considered to be the unofficial national cat of China. The dragon will be mostly shades of green and plain wood color and have woodgrain texture. The 4th pic is cute Kazu helping me color my sketch. I’m going to paint this piece. This is my second Chinese New Year’s piece. The last one was in 2020, “Cherry Blossoms” with The Year of the White Rat. 2024 is The Year of the Green Wooden Dragon. I hope that you like my sketch and I’ll post some Work in Progress pics once I start painting.

Two Of Pentacles - 78 Tarot - Rough Sketch

 

Two Of Pentacles - 78 Tarot - Rough Sketch :) This deck is Elemental and my card is an Earth card, So stones, rocks, moss, vines, trees, etc ;) I decided to go with a stone lion because I've always wanted to paint a lion. I made his tail extra long in a sort of a half figure 8 to represent the infinity symbol from the traditional card. To me the extra long tail makes him more magical & not just a typical looking lion. The two pentacles are sliced tree stump medallions with a carved sun on one & moon on the other.  The pentacles will have a glow around them filling in the rest of the infinity symbol. They will be floating, one inside each side of the figure 8 pattern & will be a be a nice contrast to the stone lion and the glowing around his tail. His tail won't all be stone but a regular lion's tail like he's turning back from being stone. He's standing on balanced rocks that will have moss & greenery on them. I plan on making them taller at the bottom since the  card is so long & that's where the 78 Tarot Card Title banner will be covering too. The background will probably be something with lots of greenery and vines etc again good contrast against the grey stone lion & rocks. Some wavy vines & 2 shadowed birds will represent the ships and ocean waves of the traditional card. I think that just about covers everything. I haven't thought of a title yet but there's lots of time for that.

I've already got the thumbs up from the 78 Tarot ladies Yay! I hope you like what I've come up with for my card too. I've set this aside for a while so I can work on a few smaller paintings in time for DragonCon.

Yesterday I finished her Eyes, Wings & some more fluffy details too. I'm finishing the rest of her today! I'll wait till Jasmine gets the painting back & scans it before sharing the finished painting. So we can share it at the same time 😉❤️

Working on my part of "Orange Blossoms"! My collaboration painting for MegaCon with Jasmine! :) I've been layering on her fur. I still have a lot of layers to go but it's starting to come together. She will have green eyes and darker purple stripes in her fur. She's going to be a fluffy cutie!! I was working on her last night while watching Jasmine paint on her Twitch channel. It's so surreal to be working on a painting with her while watching her paint :D

WIP Orange Blossoms - MegaCon - Pin Exclusive - Collaboration with Jasmine Becket Griffith

Most of you have already seen this soooo..... The Fairy Kitten is out of the bag! I am beyond thrilled to share that I am collaborating on a painting and exclusive pin for MegaCon with Jasmine Becket-Griffith!! Pins! I will also have my own MegaCon Exclusive Pin and Open Edition Variant Pin just like I did for Pensacon in February. I will be posting more info about all of this soon.

Work in Progress shot of a very unique and special painting that will be debuting at MegaCon this year, and will also be one of the THREE designs for the MegaCon Exclusive pins we'll be giving away!

"Orange Blossoms" is a collaboration between myself and artist Carrie Hawks (aka TigerPixie - she's up here - Carrie Hawks ). The idea for this actually began incubating almost fifteen years ago, we've been friends and had been discussing a collaboration for quite awhile and finally we were both able to find the time to get this started!

I've finished my part of the painting, and now I've mailed it off to Pensacola (where Carrie lives) where she will paint the other half (one of her kitties). Playing on the Florida/Orange theme (since we're both Florida girls!) I've set the piece in a classic "old Florida" landscape, replete with juicy oranges & orange blossoms. The big grey blank area to your left next to the fairy is where Carrie's kitty will be =)

We'll be debuting the original painting this year at MegaCon here in Orlando since we'll each have an art booth there! MegaCon is May 24-27 at the Orange County Convention Center (notice a theme here?) - details about the event are here:

This is also a very special painting for another reason - we are going to do a MegaCon Exclusive pin based on the design! Carrie creates enamel pins of the same size/format as my Strangeling pins, so we are collaborating on a special enamel pin as part of our Strangeling Pins lineup. On FRIDAY we'll have 100 to giveaway at MegaCon - 50 will be given away at my booth (free with any purchase) and 50 will be given away at Carrie's art booth (free with any purchase there). This might be a good way too to handle some of the initial rush/crowd control, since half will be at one booth and half at the other. We'll have a few leftover pins (hopefully) to give away randomly to our Patreon Pin Collectors too after the event =)

I will have two other MegaCon Exclusive Strangeling Pins too, stay tuned for announcements about it! A new pin each day, but with Thursday/Sunday sharing a design (since a lot of folks have to either miss Thursday or Friday, that way you can still get that design).

Bakeneko/Nekomata Rough Sketch for 78 Tarot Mythical

For my 78 Tarot Mythical Card I'm painting the Mythological Japanese Demon Cat called Bakeneko/Nekomata. I haven't decided what to call him yet exactly. From my research it seems Nekomata "Forked Tail" and Bakeneko "Changed Cat" are very similar. I've read a lot of info about them both & the sites each explain them both a little differently. One site even calls Nekomata a breed of Bakeneko? It's all rather confusing to me. I'm leaning towards Nekomata since he does have the forked tail & is in the mountains but I'm not sure.

My card is the Ace of Wands. It's a positive card full of personal power, confidence, enthusiasm, new beginnings, hope for the future, ready to take on the world! I used a lot of the symbolism and card elements from the traditional Ace of Wands Cards- I’ve got the fire, the Japanese castle in the distance, the forest will be in the background. The bamboo wand with the new growth sprouts on it. The clouds from the original card are in his kimono and the blue of his kimono will represent the river.

I absolutely LOVE my sketch & I can't wait to start painting :D I hope you like it too. I have less that a month to get this whole painting done so I have got to get moving on this asap!

Arya & New Enamel Pin Linework

Working on Linework for New Enamel Pins! 2 New Pins & this little cutie pictured above ( Not Arya, the art ;) but of course Arya is a cutie too! ) is for a super special pin so I can’t show her to you yet!
